About All-America City

The 2024 All-America City Award recognized communities that are finding innovative ways to equitably engage community members in activities that strengthen local democracy. After an extensive application process, 20 finalists came to Denver, CO from June 7 to 9 to share the story of their community to a jury of civic engagement experts. Newport News was one of ten winning communities nationwide to be named an All-America City by the National Civic League.

This distinction recognizes our city's exceptional commitment to community excellence through our focus on democracy, innovation, and collaboration. This honor also celebrates the collective achievements and vibrant spirit of our residents, who continually work together to create a thriving and inclusive community.
